Nike Air Max Foamdome “Eggplant” Brings Back a Bold Purple Classic

Nike is bringing back a standout from its past with the Nike Air Max Foamdome “Eggplant.” This sneaker-boot combines the molded look of foamposite with the rugged build of the Air Max Goadome, giving it a style that stands out from your usual Nike releases.

The return is set for November 5th, 2026, in men’s sizing. The pair comes in Electro Purple/Black. The bright purple shell and black details give these kicks a bold look without adding too much to the colorway.

The Air Max Foamdome Goes Eggplant Purple

These are not your average Nike Air Max sneakers. Foamdome elevates the traditional heavy molded-shell style of foamposite footwear to a larger, more imposing proportion.

The top black of the Electro Purple shell is bright purple, covering nearly the entire top of the sneaker for a show-stopping look. The ankle collar, eyestay and toe are all a contrasting black leather, preventing the colorway from overwhelming the eye. Black laces extend the dark theme across the top.

The molded upper features a rippled construction that creates a bold look for the Nike shoe. Rather than using many panels, Nike allows the shell to do most of the talking. The result is a pair of purple Nike shoes that appears to be unlike any of the regular low-top launches.

A Mix of Foamposite and Air Max Goadome

What makes the Nike Air Max Foamdome interesting is how it brings two familiar Nike designs together.

The molded upper takes inspiration from foamposite footwear known for its distinctive shell-like construction. The higher cut and rugged outsole, meanwhile, bring the Air Max Goadome boot into the picture.

That combination gives the Foamdome a much heavier look than a standard basketball sneaker. It has the bold shape of a Foamposite-inspired shoe but the build of a boot made for colder weather.

For fans of retro Nike shoes, this release brings back a design that takes a different route from the usual throwback basketball models. It has its own identity, mixing elements of court style with a more rugged look.

Visible Air Max Cushioning Completes the Look

The upper gets most of the attention, but the sole has plenty going on too.

The midsole features multiple visible Air units, bringing the Air Max side of the design into view. Purple accents also appear around parts of the outsole, connecting the bottom of the shoe with the Electro Purple shell above.

The rugged rubber outsole features deep traction lugs that give the Foamdome its boot-like finish. Along with the taller construction, these details make it look ready for colder-weather outfits rather than just a basketball rotation.

While the shoe has some roots in the basketball performance shoe, the Foamdome is more of a sneaker-boot than a performance basketball shoe. And that's part of what makes it special.

The Eggplant Colorway Returns

The “Eggplant” colorway has a history of its own. The Air Max Foamdome last appeared in this colorway in 2016, making the 2026 release a return after roughly a decade away.

While the combination of Black Leather overlays and a dark outsole grounds the look, the purple shell really pops. All in all, it's a powerful outfit for those who enjoy using loud colors but also want a shoe that can go with black jeans, cargos, and everyday fits.

For fans of Nike Foamposite shoes, the Foamdome offers a different way to enjoy that molded-shell look. And if you've been following the Nike Air Max Foamdome, this comeback gives the model another moment in the spotlight.
